He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry J. Schmieder and Catherine E. (Bilak); and his siblings, Jane C. Schmieder and David E. Schmieder. He is survived by: his sister Mary A. Kurtz of Charlottesville, VA; and his sibling's children, Ryan M. Kurtz and Jaime L. Kurtz.
