He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Thomas and Violet "Millie" Tinsley Thomas; and his siblings, Charles, Robert, Richard and Hazel Hall.

He is survived by: his wife Ellen Jean Dempsey; his children, Daryl Thomas, Jr., Michael Painter, Charles Painter (Tera), Roxanne Hutchinson (Kevin) and Diane Zablotsky (Dan); his grandchildren, Melissa, Kellie, Ashley, Ryan, Alex, Nicolas, James, Rayleigh and Reegan; and his siblings-in-law, Calvin Dempsey and Bernice Williams. He is also survived by his 5 great grandchildren.
