He was predeceased by: his parents, John E. Hipple and Ellen Hipple (McGonigal); and his siblings, John, Norman, Frank Hipple, Virginia "Ginny" Hill and Kathryn "Sis" Shuey.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia "Patty" Shivery; and his sons, Thomas E. Hipple II of Osceola Mills, Shane M. Hipple (Arleshia) of Erie and Frank R. Hipple (Sara) of Bellefonte. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
