It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Evelyn Walters-Shafer of Somerset, Pennsylvania, who passed away on September 25, 2025, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Edgar Holliday and Dolly Holliday (Zimmerman); her former husband Gene Walters; and her siblings, Miles, Paul Holliday (Miriam), Hilda Ream (Donald), Waneda Meager (Donald) and Margie Hittie (Blaine).
She is survived by: her daughter Denise Ferris (Dave); her granddaughters, Cassandra Broughton (Bebe), Gabrielle Garrety (Dave), Sabrina McConnell (Gregory) and Madalyn Stanchfield (TJ); her great grandchildren, Jacob Garrety, Cameron Broughton, Cevan Broughton, Izabelle Beattie (Austin), Cibastian Broughton, Cobyn Broughton, Lillian McConnell, Chase McConnell, Nash Stanchfield and Crosby Stanchfield; her great great grandchild Cimba; and her husband George Shafer.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, October 1st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Paul's United Church of Christ (202 W Union St, Somerset, PA 15501). A celebration of life was held on Wednesday, October 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
