He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Canter and Elizabeth Canter. He is survived by: his siblings, Harry Canter of Squirrel Hill, Penny Canter of Squirrel Hill, Katherine Royston (William) of Portland, Jerome Canter (Jean) of Swisshelm Park and Jill Canter (James Mamk) of Wilkinsburg; and his nieces and nephews, Sara Royston, Naomi Williams, Robert Canter, Tyler Royston, Hannah Ratica and Tristan Canter. He is also survived by 7 great nephews and nieces.
