He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Embree and Marjorie Permelia Johnston (Boyd); and his brother William G. Johnston. He is survived by: his daughters, Gail Johnston Ulmer (Jeffrey) of State College and Karen Johnston Hilger of Vienna, VA; his sisters, Dorothy MacLean of Troy, MI and Betty Zych (Jim) of Rochester Hills, MI; his sister-in-law Jeanette Johnston of Keego Harbor, MI; and his grandchildren, Jack Hilger (Emma Shenk), Sean Hilger, Bradley Hilger, Jacob Ulmer, Katy Ulmer and Madelyn Ulmer. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
