He was predeceased by: his parents, Willis Bortz and Leah Guth Kuhns. He is survived by: his wife Marianne Wolfe Kuhns; his children, Joel Judson Kuhns (Emily) and Catherine Emily Kuhns (Geoffrey Pruzinsky); his sisters, Elizabeth Watsula and Katherine Herrington; and his grandsons, Gabriel and Calvin Kuhns. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
