He is survived by: his wife Jocelyn Philip; his children, Gary James III (Erica), Wesley, Brandon (Lemma) and Desiree Shaffer; his grandchildren, Gary Roman IV, Sylvia, Pearce, Duke, Ollie and True Shaffer; and his sisters, Connie Szapka (Ted), Judy Krause (John), Tracey Luther (Tim) and Joan Stanley. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
