He was predeceased by: his parents, Eric Swanson and Jean Retterer (Springer); and his brother-in-law Gordy Young. He is survived by: his wife Mary Swanson (Snyder); his daughters, Christina Marino (Matt) of Sugar Grove and Holly Swanson (David Lyon) of Pittsfield; his stepdaughter Melissa Sargent (Joey); his siblings, Debbie Young of Parish, FL, Brian Swanson (Gerry) of Spring Creek and Keith "Dana" Swanson (Ann) of Russell; and his grandchildren, Hannah Newcamp, Garrett Dunham and Grant Ferman. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
