It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John W. Whitman Sr. of Tarentum, Pennsylvania, who passed away on June 17, 2023, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, Velma Whitman Clemons and Cicero Gilbert; his wife Helen Whitman; his sister Ethel Whitman Johnson; and his grandparents, Elner and Idora Whitman.

He is survived by : his children, John "Chip" Whitman, Jr. (Maty Diene) of Tarentum, Cheryl "Margie" Garnett (William) of Creighton, Cynthia Newman (Norman) of Pittsburgh and Joni Roberts (Howard) of Midlothian, VA; his grandchildren, Todd, Tremayne, Norman, Jr., Anthony (Tomica), Hali Jo (Everett), Nicole (Jeff), Hasson, Haliya, Hosea (Taylor), Hana (Andre) and Camarius; and his sister Mary Clemons. He is also survived by great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
