He was predeceased by: his parents, Oliver Leroy and Gladys Heichel (Crowell); his sisters, Barbara Heichel and Theda Hockenberry; and his brother-in-law John Daub.

He is survived by: his wife Janice Heichel (Sklodowski); his children, Troy Heichel (Virginia) and Susan Heichel (Ryan); his siblings, Gerald Heichel (Regina), Doug Heichel (Jackie) and Beverly Daub; his grandchildren, Jasmin (Jeff), Brandon and Sarah; and his great grandchildren, Jaxon, Jonah, Jayce and Jacob. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
