He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry E. Tyson and Ethel Tyson (Powell). He is survived by: his wife Elaine Reynolds Tyson; his children, Carole Turansky (Jim) and Ron Tyson (Kristin); and his grandchildren, Amanda Tyson, Jonathan Tyson and Emily Tyson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Red Cross Blood Donation.
