He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold VanWert and Doris Eppley VanWert; and his siblings, Richard VanWert, Hannah Whiteduck and Joyce VanWert.
He is survived by: his wife Susan VanWert (Sallom); his sons, Allen Van Wert, Jr. of Vandling, PA and Dr. Adam L. VanWert (Wendi) of Edwardsville, PA; and his grandchildren, Lydian and Rylie VanWert. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
