He was predeceased by: his parents, Nathan O. Shaffer and Adelaide Ambs Shaffer; his wife Virginia Sterling Shaffer; his siblings, Francis (Pauline Shaffer), Richard (Sarah Shaffer), Raymond (Ellen Shaffer), Edwin (Rose Shaffer), Edward Shaffer and Geraldine; and his son-in-law Frank Saxon.

He is survived by: his daughters, Diane Saxon of Buford, GA, Alice Kay Weingartner (Terri) of Powell, Bonnie Keller (Kevin) of Allentown and Linda Cook (Karl) of Monroeton; his grandchildren, Connie Burt (Paul), Frannie Gage (Paul), Tai Robinson (Robert), Karen Weingartner (Ray Fowler), Martin Weingartner, Kurt Keller (Katy), Brian Cook (Angela) and Karla Johnson (Paul); his great grandchildren, Elijah Barnhardt, Rebecca McMullen, Ariana, Eliana Cook, Ryan, Ethan Fowler, Kara, Cooper Johnson, Adelaide, Audrey and Charlotte Keller; and his sister-in-law Christine Shaffer. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the St. Agnes School in Towanda, or Guthrie Hospice.

“We mourn his loss. A wonderful gentleman who will forever be in our thoughts and prayers. He was an inspiration, entertaining and an original adventurer. In the brief time we knew Martin ….. we learned so much. God bless the family and his many friends. I referred to him lovingly as “Indiana Jones Dad”. One of a kind for sure.”
