He was predeceased by: his parents, Almon Altemus and Katherine Altemus (Cyphers); his daughter Bonnie Prevost; his son-in-law Roy Prevost; his great grandchild Jonathan Prevost; his sister Carol Waters; and his nephew Carl Altemus, Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Altemus (Natitus); his children, Cherie Altemus and James Altemus, Jr. (Tammy); his brother Carl Altemus, Sr. (Kathy); his grandchildren, Christopher Milazzo, Lauren Milazzo, Justin Prevost (Amity Lyles), Travis Prevost (Jan), Ally Prevost, Brandi Engisch and Lucas Raymond (Brit); and his great grandchildren, Charolette, Evelyn Prevost, Caden, Talon, Adrian Engisch, Walker Raymond, Dom, Gia Milazzo, David and Annaleigh Alvear. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
