James Welch Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Welch of Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania, born in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, who passed away on October 17, 2025, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbur Welch and Helen Welch (Bryant); his wife Audrey Welch; his former wife Jean Welch; and his sister Peggy Stevens (Robert W. Stevens).
He is survived by: his children, Sally Sands (Ron), James Welch Jr. (Dawn), John Welch (Karen) and Lori Robinson; his stepdaughter Peggie Hobbs of Tunkhannock; his grandchildren, Stacey Peterson (KC), Ronnie Sands (Coleen), Lucas Welch (Martha), Derek Welch (Hollie), Shannon Carney (Chris) and Ben Robinson (Jill); and his stepgrandchildren, Ron Hobbs (Elizabeth) and Drew Hobbs (Jaime). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Triton Hose Company (108 W Tioga St, Tunkhannock, PA 18657). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 at 5:45 PM and on Wednesday, October 22nd 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at the Sunnyside Cemetery (152 Sunnyside Rd, Tunkhannock, PA 18657).
