He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert L. Sheaffer and Tillie M. Sheaffer (Strawser); his granddaughter Courtney Banks; and his siblings, Donald, David, William Sheaffer and Betty Lou Gutshall.
He is survived by: his wife Mary E. (Kerr); his children, Keith Sheaffer (Chris) of Newport, Kim Rhoades (Mike) of Newport and Pam Banks of Dauphin; his grandchildren, Mark, Bobbie Rhoades, Lauren Pauling (Derek), Caitlin, Jeb Banks, Kolby (Lily) and Stone Sheaffer; and his great grandchildren, Cooper Pauling and Axel Sheaffer.
