He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Robert and Edna Mae Anthony Sanford; his former wife Sharon Blake Sanford; his wife Joan Ashbaugh Sanford; his son Kurt Sanford; his grandson Edward Grinder; and his sisters, Irene Smith, Evelyn Hamilton, Betty Borello, Helen Shute, Sara Curcio and Virginia Womeldorf.
He is survived by: his children, Joi Jeannine Sanford of Vandergrift and Diane Lynn Collier of Vandergrift; his grandchildren, Haley, Emma, Sharon Sanford, Alecia Collier and Jeff White; his great grandchildren, Jayce, Elena, Devon and Dean; his close friend Margaret Hunter; and his sister Shirley Minnich of Leechburg. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
