He is survived by: his sons, Thomas Shoemaker, Jr. (Heather) of Delmont and Todd Shoemaker (Maria) of Vandergrift; and his siblings, Patricia R. O'Brien, Linda J. Blystone, Sherry A. Bash (Ronald), Sandra L. Mastrangelo (Daniel), Ken Shoemaker and David "Skip" Shoemaker. He is also survived by eight grandchildren.
