He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Dawson and Ardina Dawson (Weiss); and his siblings, Ila Mae Dawson, Doyle, Dave, Lawrence "Art", Richard "Dick", Tom, Glenwood and Ray Dawson.

He is survived by: his wife Diane B. Dawson (Hinchcliff); his children, Carrie Miller (William) and Corey Dawson (Larissa); his grandchildren, Makaela, Maggie, Billy, Ty, Luke, Taylin and Rylin; and his siblings, Bill Dawson (Hobbie) and Carol Dawson (Hobbie). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
