He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Shirk and Madeline Shirk (Retzer); and his daughter Cynthia "Cindy" Frey. He is survived by: his wife Carol (Oatman); his sons, Douglas Shirk (Alicia) of Elizabethtown and Timothy Shirk (Rhonda) of Covington, KY; and his son-in-law Terry Frey (Tammie) of Washington Boro.
