He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Ewing and Esther Barney Ewing; and his wife Goldie McMasters. He is survived by: his daughters, Deborah Holley (Doug) and Pamela Kurtz (Stephen); his sister Lois Ewing Podwils (late Gary); and his grandchildren, Mitchell Smith (Angela), Michael Holley, Phillip Kurtz and Courtney Kurtz Crump (Jonathan). He is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
