He was predeceased by: his parents, Josiah N. Schnell and Minnie Schnell (Sumney); and his siblings, Earl, Dean (Peg), Larry "Pete" Schnell, Clara (Jim Edmonds) and Helen (Bob Stewart).
He is survived by: his wife Wilma O. Daubenspeck Schnell; his son Thomas J. Schnell (Judith) of West Sunbury; his grandson Eli Schnell of West Sunbury; his stepgrandchildren, Michael Devinney (Ofek) of North Carolina, Elliot Devinney of Cranberry and Katelynn Devinney of Brooklyn; his siblings, Maxine Craig of Chicora, Mary Maurhoff (Doyle) of North Washington, Lee (Sara Schnell), Jim (Ruth Schnell) and Dennis (Marjorie Schnell); his sister-in-law Judy Schnell of Karns City; and his pet Buddy. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
