He is survived by: his children, Margaret "Peg" Herbst Sanders (William Eugene), Joseph Herbst, Kathleen Hester, Mary Gunther Paynic and Julia Herbst (Jim Wentz); and his grandchildren, Matt, Chris Herbst, Katherine, Bridget Gunther, Devon and James "Riley" Hester.
