He was predeceased by: his parents, Maxwell O. Birely and Lillian Birely (Davis); his sons, Ricky E. Birely and Mitchell L. Birely; his siblings, Alice Cauffman, Dorothy Rippeon, Catherine Peters, Luttie Miller, Betty Zimmerman, Madeline Harbaugh and Archie Varner; and his stepmother Grace M. Harshman Birely.
He is survived by: his wife Delores J. Birely (Davis); and his children, E. Charlie Birely, Jr. (Ruby) of Waynesboro, Tina M. Longnecker (Michael) of Waynesboro and Teresa A. Butler (Phillip) of Waynesboro. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
