He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth H. Hess and Mary Jane Hess (Baylor); his daughter Julie K. Hess; and his sister Mary L. Piper. He is survived by: his wife Debra K. Hess (Stitely); his sons, Michael J. Hess (Jessie) of Waynesboro, Matthew J. Hess (Deanna) of Waynesboro and Craig D. Hess (Jenna) of Waynesboro; his grandchildren, Laine, Lauren, Sam, Erica, Jim, Dave, Joe, Ruby, Cade and Lily; and his siblings, Robert K. Hess of Waynesboro, Barbara A. Kantner of Reading, PA, David B. Hess of Millerton, PA, Joseph E. Hess of Waynesboro, Samuel S. Hess of Waynesboro, Elizabeth J. Hess of Waynesboro and Daniel H. Hess of Waynesboro. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews along with a host of extended family.
