He was predeceased by: his parents, Emerson Smith and Gertrude Smith (Runge); his son Todd; his great grandchild Austin Staley; and his brothers, Loren, Donald and Edwin Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Joan Smith (Hornberger); his children, Tedd Smith (Tammy) and Tammy (Doug Staley); his sister Miriam Hummel (Lavelle); his sisters-in-law, Nadine and Barbara Smith; his grandchildren, Andy Staley, Shelby Smith, Brittany Wang, Bethany Gross and Chris Staley; and his great grandchildren, Aaliyah, Aidan and Adrian Dennis.
