He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Backstrom and Jessie Backstrom (Everett); his brothers, Charles and David Backstrom; and his nephews, Danny and David Backstrom.
He is survived by: his wife Gloria Backstrom (Mendarino); his children, Robert W. Backstrom (Anne Marie) and Michele Phillips (Chad); his grandchildren, Kailie Czapek (Brian), Morgan Backstrom and Christopher Price; and his stepgrandchildren, Julian and Thomas Waters. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Jr. Funeral Home (901 Vine St, West Newton, PA 15089). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Christ Lutheran Church (302 Vine St, West Newton, PA 15089).
