He was predeceased by: his parents, James Donaldson and Kathleen "McCray" Donaldson Sr.. He is survived by: his children, Tara Donaldson of Corry, PA, Scott Donaldson (Kristen) of East Fallowfield, PA, Sean Donaldson of Corry, PA and James K. Donaldson III (Marissa) of Corry, PA; his brother Gary Donaldson (Cheryl) of Columbus, PA; his grandchildren, Zachary Donaldson, Lucas Donaldson, Lakota Donaldson and Weston Zimmerman; and his sibling's children, Gina LaFountain and Nick Donaldson.

Per his wishes, James will have his body donated to the University of Pittsburgh.
