He was predeceased by: his parents, John T. Carper and Phyllis J. Carper (Foster); his great grandchild Joseph A. "Jac" Carper II; and his siblings, Yvonne Carper, Philip "Skip" Carper, Adeline Grubb, Erma Ticconi, Patti Delancey, Shirley Brown, John Carper and Robert "Jack" Carper.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara A. Lang; his sons, Keith A. Carper (Kelly) of Williamsburg, Troy M. Carper (Linda) of Williamsburg and Darrin W. Carper (Emily) of Williamsburg; his grandchildren, Tabitha Stiffler (Tyler), Brock Clowson (Cedric), Joseph Carper (Shannon), Chase Nicholas Carper, Mackenzie Carper, Camilla Carper and Gianna Carper; his great grandchildren, Charlotte, Emilia and Jones; and his sister Lola Keith (Warren). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
