He is survived by: his wife Kathleen "Kathy" Mayer (Fleeger); his children, Carrie Mayer (Steve Ball, Jr.) and Daniel L. Mayer, Jr. (Holly Henry); his brother Paul A. "Babe" Mayer, Jr. (Dolores); his grandchildren, Sarah, Abigail Spatzer, Logan and Brock Mayer; and his stepgrandchildren, Paige and Logan Ball.
