He was predeceased by : his wife Karen M. Helm (Frey); his parents, Gordon K. Helm and Dorothy M. Helm (Eck); his daughter Clela Jean Helm; and his brother Rick Helm.

He is survived by : his son Jacob J. Helm of Williamsport; his grandchildren, Catrina, Desiree, Jacob Jr. and Joshua Helm; and his brother Keith Helm (Rebecca) of Williamsport. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
