David D. Shaffer Obituary
The memory of David D. Shaffer of Windber, Pennsylvania, who passed away on October 12, 2025 at the age of 93, will forever remain in the hearts of those touched by this precious presence in their lives. He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Norman and Matilda Weaver; his parents, Dean Shaffer and Alegra Shaffer (Weaver); his grandparents, Irvin and Leila Shaffer (Fyock); and his siblings, Norman Shaffer and Janet Codick.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Durst Shaffer; his daughters, Diane L. McCoy and Patti L. Chicarell (James); his grandchildren, Rachel Matichak (Matthew), Jamie Chicarell (Andrew Lucas) and David Chicarell; and his great grandchildren, Jayden Lucas, Payten Lucas and Jackson Matichak.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Rummel Church of the Brethren (3432 Graham Ave, Windber, PA 15963). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Dave's honor to 1Laurel Highlands Hospice Care or the Northern Regional Fire Department.
