He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Horton and Edithe Horton (Whited); his wife Darlene E. Horton (Chaney); and his siblings, John, George Horton and Janelle Frank.
He is survived by: his sons, Michael Horton (Wendy) and Jim Horton (Bobby Sue); and his grandchildren, Travis, Joshua, David, Andrew, Mindy, Emily and Alice Lou Smeigh. He is also survived by 8 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.
