He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd Schmid and Margaret Schmid (Taylor); and his brothers, Paul and Roy Schmid. He is survived by: his girlfriend Wendy Sponseller; his children, Gwen Alvino (Andy) of Fresno, CA, Nathan Schmid (Jennifer) of Bethlehem, PA and Lauren Schmid; his close friend Troy Robinson of Lancaster; and his grandchildren, Westley, DeShawn, Aliya, Adelaide, Andrew and Aniya.
