He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Hinrichs and Fern Hinrichs (Noll); his sister Lynne Jones (Hinrichs); and his former wife Virginia A. Hinrichs. He is survived by: his wife Alison B. Hinrichs (Yeager); his children, Cynthia L. Moran (Joseph P. Moran) of Valrico, Florida and James R. Hinrichs (Malorie E. Hinrichs) of Temple; and his granddaughters, Elizabeth J. and Belinda N. Moran. He is also survived by several nephews and a niece.
