He was predeceased by: his parents, William Russell and Eva Mae Armstead; and his siblings, Blanch, Barbara, Carolyn, Rita, Clinton, Clarence, Ronald, Joyce, Florence and Melveena.

He is survived by: his siblings, Gloria Morgan (late Thomas), Theresa Oglesby (Ralph) and Marvin Armstead; his close friend Rachel Washington; and his sister-in-law Connie. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great & great-great nieces and nephews, and many beloved friends.
