She was predeceased by: her parents, Annette Grant Ayers and John Ayers; her siblings, Wilbur Ayers, James Ayers (Cleveland), Samuel Ayers, Henry Ayers, Charles Ayers, Rosella Smart, Johnetta Ayers and Elizabeth Brown; and her granddaughter Salena Ayers.
She is survived by: her sister Dorothy McMillan of New York; her sons, Rodney Ayers (Sharon) of Delaware, Steven Ayers of Kentucky and Jonathan Ayers (Danika) of Florida; and her adoptive son Edward Lathan of California. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 21 great‑grandchildren.
