He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Martin and Mary Lydia Smith (Haker); and his siblings, Frank Smith, Sylvia Smith, Bradley Smith and Dorothy Deacon.
He is survived by: his wife Jane A. Wagner Smith; his sons, Marc E. Smith (Jana) and Jonathan D. Smith (Kristin); his grandchildren, Rachel, Bradley Smith, William, Luke and Charlie Smith; and his stepchildren, Heather Schroeder, Norm Wagner and Edd Wagner.
