She was predeceased by: her husbands, Rev. Leonard E. Shertzer and Harlan H. McCarty; her parents, Howard W. Sowers and Anna Marie Sowers (Plitt); her stepson David Shertzer; and her siblings, Elizabeth Hopwood, Marguerite Rennie, Charlotte Raffensberger, Mildred Meisenhelter, Phyllis Spangler, Kenneth Sowers, Lewis Sowers and Carl Sowers.
She is survived by: her daughters, Debra Sallade (Chris) of York, Barbara Oyler (Paul) of Meadville, PA and Susan Hunter (Christian) of York; her stepdaughters, Denise Williamson and Diane Vestal; and her grandchildren, Ben Sallade, Jessica Oyler, Lauryn Smith (Oyler), Hailey Hunter, Rhiannon Williamson, Justin Williamson, Jasmine Simone, Jordan Fabie, Autumn Farrell and Olivia Vestal. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren.
