He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Short and Florence Short; and his siblings, Thomas Short Sr. and Kaye Brown. He is survived by: his wife Alice Short; his children, Sam Jr. (Elizabeth) of Butler, PA, Donna Heusey (Rick) of Butler, PA and Susan Rogers of Winnabow, NC.; his sister Elizabeth Bauder (Fred) of Portersville, PA; and his siblings-in-law, Rita Hahn (Steve) of Harmony, PA, Mary White of Harmony, PA, Donna Hall of Zelienople, PA and Bob Brown of Butler, PA..

In honor of his life and commitment to helping others, donations can be made in Sam's memory to Victim Outreach Intervention Center (VOICe) or Grace Church of Harmony.
