He was predeceased by: his parents, Maurice Mertz and Anna Mertz (Walbert). He is survived by: his sons, Broc Mertz (Lauren Weaver) and Eric Mertz; his brother David Mertz (Miriam); and his grandchildren, Ciaran Mertz (Mertz), Blaize Mertz and Ava Mertz.
