He was predeceased by: his parents, Manuel Soares and Maria José Pereira Soares; and his siblings, Inez Pavão, Noé Soares and Conceição Dias.
He is survived by: his spouse Idalina Soares (Tavares); his children, Lucia Medeiros (João) of Bristol, RI, Louis Soares (Elizabeth) of Alexandria, VA and Lena Soares (Victor) of Fall River, MA.; his grandchildren, Nicholas, Maya and Tiffany (Helio); and his great grandchildren, Vincent and Daniel. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as extended family.
