He was predeceased by: his parents, Antonio M. Resendes and Maria Madelina Resendes (Sousa); and his siblings, Manuel Resendes, Virginia Faria, Olivia Tavares and Maria Ana Resendes.
He is survived by: his spouse Rolanda Resendes (Raposo); his children, Dorothy Sherman (Michael) of Bristol, Joseph Resendes (Susan) of Bristol and Diane Belanger (Michael Sacco) of Bristol; his grandchildren, Kaela Sherman, Jacob Sherman, Ava Resendes, Zander Resendes and Colin Belanger; his great grandchild Mia; and his sister Luisa Lima of São Miguel, Açores..
