He was predeceased by: his wife Anne "Robin" Scanlan (McMahon); his parents, Harry Scanlan and Lorena Scanlan (McLachlan); and his siblings, Mary Scanlan and Harry Scanlan.
He is survived by: his children, Margaret Scanlan (Charles Gillis) of Winchester, Thomas Scanlan (Laurie Fox) of Athens, Vincent Scanlan (Jacqueline Scanlan) of Newtown, Brian Scanlan (Cynthia Chang Scanlan) of Greenwich, Michael Scanlan of South Orange, Kathleen Scanlan of San Francisco and Daniel Scanlan (Daniel Richards) of Melrose, Massachusetts.; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Gillis, Andrew Gillis, Peter Gillis, Quinn Scanlan, Luke Scanlan, Aidan Scanlan, Kevin Scanlan and Paula Scanlan; his sister Margaret Crotty-Platka of Arlington, Massachusetts.; and his caregiver Joe.
Visitation was held on Thursday, July 17th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Friday, July 18th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, July 18th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Mary's Church (330 Wood St, Bristol, RI 02809).
