He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter C. Neilson, Sr. and Mary M. Neilson (Heindl); and his brothers, Walter "Charlie" Neilson Jr., James "Jim" Neilson, William Neilson and John "Jack" Neilson.
He is survived by: his children, Robert V. Neilson, Jr. (Amy) of Hope Valley and Laura A. O'Sullivan (Amanda O'Sullivan) of Coventry; and his grandchildren, John, Amanda Dean and Hope Neilson.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 3rd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Prata-Gallogly Funeral Home (78 Providence St, West Warwick, RI 02893). A committal service will be held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 at 9:45 AM at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery (301 S County Trail, Exeter, RI 02822). The military honors will be held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
