He was predeceased by: his parents, Ricardo Mata and Olga Mata (Fabre); and his sister Alexandra Mata Fabre. He is survived by: his wife Gloria "Chavica" L. Mata (Gaitan); his children, Pia Mata O'Reilly (Jonathan O'Reilly), Carla Mata-Soscia (Brian Soscia), Ricardo Mata (Erin Mata) and Paul Mata; his niece Laila Salcedo (Mata); his siblings, Julio, Antonio, Mario, Olga, Marta, Francisco, Marcia and Alejandro Mata; and his grandchildren, Patrick O'Reilly, Brian Soscia, II, Christian Soscia, Kiandra Mata Desenna, Ricardo J. Mata and Kennedi Mata.
