He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas J. F. Murphy and Angela D. Murphy (Giunta). He is survived by: his wife Diana L. Murphy (Stokes); his children, Candice Murphy, Alicia McGee, Joseph Giguere and Claire Giguere; his grandchildren, Sullivan Giguere, Leo Giguere and Noah McGee; and his sister Sandra Sullo. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
