We announce the death of William H. Gesterling of Cranston, Rhode Island, who passed away on October 5, 2026, at the age of 73. William will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. William will be remembered for the impact he had on the lives of those around him. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. William’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued his companionship.
He was predeceased by: his parents, William A. and Marie C. Gesterling (Hoyle); and his grandson Philip. He is survived by: his wife Joanne Gesterling (MacTavish); his children, Kerri L. Riggi (Philip) of Warwick, Erika L. Pacheco (Nicholas) of Warwick and William J. Gesterling of Cranston; his siblings, Karen Prata, Robert Gesterling and Marianne Gormly; and his grandchildren, Ryan Riggi and Isabella Riggi.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 at 9:00 AM at the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home (1328 Warwick Ave, Warwick, RI 02888). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Saint Paul Church (1 St. Paul Place, Edgewood, RI).
