He was predeceased by: his parents, Manuel and Maria (Vieira) of Estrela; his daughter Maria Josephine Marshall; and his brother Celestino Couto. He is survived by: his children, Cristine Vieira (Mario) of East Providence and Michael D. Couto (Helena) of Riverside; and his siblings, José Arnaldo Couto (Maria) of Warwick, João Couto (Maria) of East Providence and Maria Rosario Sousa (late Jose Sousa) of Canada. He is also survived by six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 13th 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Our Lady of the Rosary Church (21 Traverse St, Providence, RI 02903). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, January 13th 2026 at 11:30 AM at the same location.
